Cache County school changes for 2026–27
Sixth grade moved to middle school, two new middle schools opened and boundaries shifted. Here is what changed and how to check an address.
The short version
For the 2026–27 school year, Cache County School District moved sixth grade out of elementary schools and into four 6–8 middle schools, opened two new middle schools and a new elementary, turned two schools into dual language immersion (DLI) magnet elementaries, added full-day kindergarten at every elementary and redrew attendance boundaries. The board approved the new boundaries on Oct. 16, 2025, with final adjustments on Jan. 22, 2026, and school started Aug. 25, 2026. The district's reasons: crowded elementary schools, room for all-day kindergarten and a simpler system of four middle schools feeding four high schools.
Before (through 2025–26)
Elementary schools served kindergarten through sixth grade, and middle schools served grades 7–8. Kindergarten wasn't full-day everywhere.
Now (from August 2026)
17 neighborhood K–5 elementaries, 2 K–5 DLI magnet elementaries (Cedar Ridge and Spring Creek), 4 middle schools for grades 6–8 (Juniper Ridge, Maple View, North Cache and South Cache) and 4 high schools for grades 9–12 (Green Canyon, Mountain Crest, Ridgeline and Sky View), plus Cache High. Full-day kindergarten at every elementary.
New and changed schools
- Juniper Ridge Middle School, Hyde Park: grades 6-8
- Maple View Middle School, Nibley: grades 6-8
- Old Ephraim Elementary, Hyde Park: grades K-5
- Spring Creek Elementary (former Spring Creek Middle), Providence: grades K-5 DLI magnet
- Spring Creek in Providence is now a K–5 DLI magnet elementary (Spanish and French), and Cedar Ridge in Hyde Park is a K–5 DLI magnet (Chinese and Portuguese).
Juniper Ridge feeds Green Canyon High and Maple View feeds Ridgeline High. Old Ephraim's students started the year at host schools while the building finished, so check with the district on its status.

Dates to know
- Nov. 15, 2026 – Feb. 19, 2027: early open-enrollment (school choice) window for 2027–28, by lottery.
- By March 31, 2027: early application results. Late applications are accepted any time after that and answered within two weeks.
No 2027–28 boundary or grade changes had been announced as of October 2026.
Other districts
- Logan City School District is a separate district; no 2026–27 boundary or grade changes were announced. See loganschools.org.
- Box Elder School District: no attendance boundary changes for 2026–27 or 2027–28; plans to move 9th grade into the high schools were dropped.
- Weber School District: no notable 2026–27 boundary or grade changes.
